Configure Microsoft’s Multimedia Redirection to use the Genesys Cloud WebRTC phone

Feature coming soon

Genesys Cloud’s WebRTC Media Helper along with Microsoft’s Multimedia Redirection tool allows you to run Genesys Cloud with a WebRTC phone in either of Microsoft’s Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) environments: Azure Virtual Desktop or Windows 365 Cloud PC.

After you install and configure Microsoft’s Multimedia Redirection tool, all you need to do is start Genesys Cloud in your Microsoft VDI environment. When you do, Genesys Cloud’s WebRTC Media Helper automatically works with Microsoft’s Multimedia Redirection tool and enables your Genesys Cloud WebRTC phone. Working together, Media Helper and Multimedia Redirection provide optimal WebRTC audio calls and video playback in Genesys Cloud.

Microsoft multimedia redirection

To run Genesys Cloud in a Microsoft VDI environment, you must follow the installation and configuration instructions in Microsoft’s Multimedia redirection for video playback and calls in a remote session article.

Genesys Cloud WebRTC Media Helper

After the multimedia redirection tool is installed and configured, the only configuration necessary for WebRTC Media Helper is to make sure that the Require WebRTC Media Helper setting in the WebRTC base settings or a WebRTC phone setting is set to Disabled. The Require WebRTC Media Helper setting appears in the Media section of the WebRTC configuration. For more information, see Configure the Genesys Cloud WebRTC phone
