AWS regions for Genesys Cloud

Genesys Cloud uses multiple, independent AWS regions around the globe to provide a distributed cloud environment with secure access for organizations. Genesys Cloud offers two main types of AWS regions: core and satellite.

Core region

When a Genesys Cloud organization is created, it is deployed in a core region based on the organization’s location. User access to Genesys Cloud is routed to the URL corresponding to the Amazon data center for their organization’s core region.

Some, but not all, of the core regions provide support for Genesys Cloud Voice.

Satellite region

When a Genesys Cloud organization is configured to use Global Media Fabric, satellite regions provide media service including support for storing call recordings. More specifically, satellite regions provide Global Media Fabric with additional locations for call/audio paths to minimize latency. For more information, see Configure your site for Global Media Fabric.

NoteA satellite region cannot act as an AWS region for Genesys Cloud deployment.

The following tabs show the Genesys Cloud core and satellite regions.
